Affirmations For Writers

I regard myself as a mindful person as I like to pay attention to my thoughts and the things I think about.

I truly believe in the power of thoughts and believe we can change our lives with our thoughts.

 To help train my brain to think more positively in order to manifest the kind of life I desire I use affirmations.

 Affirmations are simply positive phrases intended to help clear your mind of negative thought chatter and by repeating these phrases to yourself out loud, affirmations are intended to create this belief in your conscious mind for example;

The theory behind affirmations is basically what you think you can create. So you can manifest the same positive energy from your affirmations into into your life. Whether you believe this to be true or not is for you to decide but in my view anything that encourages a more positive mindset is worth a try.

How To WRITE Affirmations
 In order for an affirmation to be effective and actually create change in your conscious mind how it is written is absolutely crucial. Affirmations must be written in the first person, in the present tense and state a goal or a truth that you want to impress upon your mind.
'The act of writing them down and seeing them in print will help solidify them in your mind'- Writer's Relief.

Overall  affirmations are meant to encourage you to think and experience a life filled with positivity and gratitude. This is the most effective method of using affirmations is basically repeat, repeat, repeat.  In order for the affirmations you use to to be incorporated into your psyche they need to be practiced routinely and repeated on a daily basis.

 The use of affirmations can be an ongoing life practice to help you achieve certain goals and set new goals. For example lets say through the use of positive affirmations you manifested your dream job. Once you have achieved that goal you should consider new affirmations you can use to bring you closer to new goals you set yourself.

 'For writers, affirmations are a great tool to use to improve creativity and maintain a positive frame of mind when writing.  Some writers use brief quotes from authors who inspire them, while others use highly specific mantras to help encourage them to write'- Writers Relief.

 As a writer I am currently writing affirmations that will encourage and prompt me to start writing. My two favorite affirmations that I am focusing upon are;

 "I can be a successful writer " And  "I am writing my own destiny"

Motivational Read 'Hustle Believe Recieve'

For helping me get to this point of actually publishing posts would like to personally  thank   Sarah Centrella for reminding me of what my dream is and has always been and encouraging me to believe I can actually do it.

 What I really like about this   book is that Sarah set the reader homework and you have to have a pen and paper at the ready to jot things down when asked. It's books like this I simply adore. The book offers really practically writing exercises. It was upon completing my first homework that I found myself inspired to create this blog as I had to write the details of what my dream is for myself and once I did everything became clear. I needed to pursue my dream.  Sarah provides writing prompts for you to write down you dream life in detail it is a really good exercise to gain clarity on what your dream life is.

I have created the hastag #JustPickUpANotepad  and #JustWrite in the hope it will trend and prompt people to utilize writing as a tool. I want to write posts that help readers with their personal live's with a specific focus on achieving personal growth and spiritual mindfulness through the use of written words.

No matter what the topic of my post I intend to demonstrate how writing about yourself and your life can create positive change inside and out.

The fact that I have even created this blog this month is due to reading a book that has inspired me and sparked up my passion to write again as I had lost my enthusiasm to pursue writing the book I have long desired. It has been my dream since 2005 but  I have allowed other things to always draw me away from really working towards my dream.

 If your feeling demotivated, uninspired and lacking the motivation and passion to change your life, live the life of your dreams and take the necessary action to make that happen read this book #ReadWithMe  and share your views.

How To Embrace Your Own Uniqueness Without Comparing Or Competing

What would life be like if we all were the same? I mean if we all looked similar, were all one race, spoke the same language, communicated about the same subjects, thought the same things, dressed the same and ate the same kind of food. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine what life would be like if the world was actually like that?

I reckon life in general and the world around us would be very dull and boring indeed.
Life experiences would probably cease to have meaning as there would be nothing new to lean or experience. Our minds would lack stimulation and we'd have a less exciting, varied world around us if we were all the same or  too similar. If there wasn't enough differences to make everyone uniquely different life would be boring.

So why do we find ourselves
 comparing ourselves to others? Desiring to be like or the same as someone else? Whether that be wanting to look like someone else or desiring to mimic and copy the style and trend of others or literally wanting to be someone else completely?

Why cant we just accept ourselves for who we are without focusing on others? Why do we rate ourselves against others like it is some kind of competition?

When you really stop and think and ask yourself these questions it can lead to even more questions like;
-How does it make us feel when we compare ourselves to others?

-Does it make us feel good about ourselves when we compare ourselves to others?

Don't get me wrong I don't think there is anything wrong with admiring others or modelling yourself after someone else, "If you want to be like someone, there's nothing stopping you from modeling yourself after someone else. You don't have to BE them - that's not your job in life. Your job in life is not to be someone else. You just want to be as good at being you as that person is at being them." - Jenna Marbles

Issues arise when you compare yourself to others to the point you feel that another person is some how better than you that's where issues arise. Have you ever thought any of the following;
- 'they're better than me'
- 'they're better looking than me'
-'they're better dressed than me'
-'they have a better physical appearance than me'
-'they have a better figure than me'
- 'they have better finances than me'
-'they have a better standard of living than me'
-'they have a better social life than me'

How do you think this will impact your self esteem if you think like that?

I go on Instagram and I see there's always someone with amazing hair, amazing eyebrows, amazing bodies, amazing style, fantastic shoes and expensive wardrobes and it's hard not to get sucked into thinking 'oh my gosh they look so much better than me'. I call it the comparison game however as a rule I stop myself and say to myself  'don't get sucked in' that's them and I too have great qualities and attributes.

Whenever you compare yourself to others your basically depleting your own value  and make yourself feel worst about yourself by labeling another person better than you.

On the flip side some people compete in order to prove they are better than others and make incredible effort to demonstrate I am better. Why?
They simply need the validation in order to feel of value because they feel like they are nothing, like they are worthless no bodies if they didn't compete and if they didn't exhibit they are better than others in some way.

My advice to this is Don't compare yourself or even compete with others.

We are all unique just like our fingerprints.

There is only one version of you...how awesome is that!

How cool is it to know that the same God that created, oceans, mountains and gallaxies looked and thought you know what the world needed one of you too.

We are all here to become a higher, elevated, better version of ourself therefore you are your own competition.

If you believe others are better than you in anyway way, whether that be that they are more better off than you, more attractive than you, more stylish than you, more anything than you then you need to STOP right now. Stop Comparing yourself with others as it only distracts you from the mission of being the best version of yourself.

If you believe you have to prove you are better than others and you compete with others to show them that you are above them in order to feel you are someone then you need to STOP right now. As your excelling for all the wrong reasons. Your competing for recognition because you feel like a nobody without it. How can you be the best version of yourself when you have to compete in order to feel valued.

The greatest battle you will ever fight is the one with yourself in your own mind and it takes daily  practice to be consciously mindful and alert of all the thoughts you have about yourself.
Monitor your thoughts and the messages you tell yourself. We literally have millions of thoughts run through our minds in one day and in order to stop habits of comparing and competing, our thoughts must be monitored.

There simply is no time to be comparing and competing with others when your here to learn how to master yourself.

You can either be your own worst enemy or fight to be the best you can be, free from comparisons and free from competition.

You can either destroy and assassinate your own confidence and self esteem or become a master builder and learn to build yourself up each and every day.

 The choice is yours!

 It is my hope that more people learn how to get to know themselves, learn how to embrace their uniqueness and love themselves. I hope people are able to make it their mission to take daily affirmative action in mentally pushing their egos and insecurities out the way in order to embrace self love and celebrate their individual uniqueness instead of always wanting to be the same or similar to someone else or trying to out do someone in order to feel validated.

Writing Challenge
Take a moment to get comfortable think about how there is only one version of you on the face of this earth. Now  #justpickupanotepad and #justwrite;
(1) List everything that you can think of that's unique about you, all your unique attributes and qualities. All your strengths, all your positive attributes, all the things that make you uniquely you.
Even Include physical attributes if you can such as facial features, freckles, birth marks, stretch marks, scars or, any  features that you see as unique & identifiable to you.

(2) Now imagine you are writing an Ad about yourself and you have to present these unique features in a magazine.

Write as many positives as you can and be as creative with your words as you possible can. remember your writing an Ad about yourself, so sell yourself, make every attribute and quality sound as appealing as you possible can.

Even if you think any of your unique physical features are unbecoming, turn it around and give it a positive spin, market the hell out of it make it sound desirable. For example "I have stretch marks and a scar on my bum that looks like a claw mark  from sitting on a flat iron. But when I look in the I feel like a bold, daring, feline tigress which is a unique kind of confidence to possess."

Also be honest, If sarcasm and a dry sense of humour uniquely defines you sell it, what's the upside to having that attribute. What's the upside to being a straight talking, no bullshit kind of person. Be truthful about all your unique defining qualities and attributes, whatever they are and simply let them shine.

Thank you for reading, God Bless and remember to #justpickupanotepad and #justwrite

Dear God...

Like Celie in the novel The Color Purple by Alice Walker (My Favourite Novel) I initially started my writings with Dear God......If you haven't read the book I highly suggest you do and watch movie The Color Purple staring Oprah Winfery (My Favourite film of all time).

 Whenever I write and start with Dear God letter I really feel at ease to pour my deepest feelings, hurts and pains onto the page. To some writing a letter to God may seem very formal in comparison to speaking out loud to God, however I found pouring everything on paper was easier. I felt more connected to the all knowing and all seeing higher entity whom I placed my trust so I just continued as it helped me.

.

Over time I have repeatedly written Dear God Letters and I saw that in doing so I was bringing myself closer to God through written word. I've learnt to expand my views and perceptions of God and religion as a whole and I've achieved spiritual growth in countless ways as a result (This is something  I will discuss in more depth in later posts).

Writing provides the psychological release I desperately need and desire on a day to day basis. Whenever I start writing I feel energized and feel alive from from the deepest core of my being. Through writing I have affirmed my identity and no longer feel lost in a empty void of 'who I am I? What is my purpose?' For me that's a sure sign I am doing something right for myself spiritually, mentally and emotionally.

 Writing has also helped me express my feelings before, during and after relationship breakdowns and has helped me navigate through depression and anxiety that otherwise could have led to a complete mental health breakdown. If I didn't have an outlet or way of releasing my psychological and emotional tensions I am sure I probably would of gone off my head luckily I haven't and I'm still sane. Writing has been my go to for self support and has ultimately saved me from drowning in a sea of muddled thought and emotions on countless occasions.

Through simply picking up a notepad and writing I  have learnt how to help and support myself in unimaginable ways.  I have learnt how to love myself unconditionally,I have learnt how to face my fears, I have learnt how to build up my confidence and, self esteem.

I have learnt how to be more productive in my daily life  and now it is my desire  to Inspire, Encourage and Motivate readers to utilize writing as a tool for self improvement inside and out.

Over time I have developed my writing skills and learnt useful journal writing techniques and I intend to share these techniques and useful writing tips in my posts.

Whenever you feel the urge to write things down I urge you to follow your gut and just do it. Sometimes you just need to relieve your brain of the truck load of thoughts that clutter the mind.

                                                                 Writing Challenge
Step 1: Think of a current situation that has been troubling you or bothering you.

Step 2: Grab yourself a notepad & pen

Step 3: Write Dear God....If your not religious or comfortable using the term 'GOD' feel free to replace the words GOD with another term if you want.

 e.g.
Dear Allah...
Dear Jehovah.....
Dear Universe...
Dear Inner Light...
Dear Self.....

Step 4: Without Censoring Yourself Describe The Situation or Concern that is bothering you like you would to a friend.
-Be clear and write down exactly why it's been bothering you.
-Explain exactly how the situation is making you feel?

Write as much as you can for as long as you can.

Thank You For Reading , God Bless and remember to #JustPickUpANotepad and #JustWrite  Xxx
